Love Nature joins Gangs of Lemur Island

Gangs of Lemur Island will launch next summer

WILDSCREEN: Blue Ant Media’s natural history network Love Nature has commissioned a wildlife series focusing on lemurs from UK prodco True to Nature.

Five-parter Gangs of Lemur Island, announced at the ongoing Wildscreen Festival in Bristol, follows four warring troops of ring-tailed lemurs in the fast-changing world of Madagascar.

The fiercely loyal clans fight each other on a daily basis to protect their turf and family, with the series aiming to capture the power struggles, in-fighting and stories of loyal friendships and coalitions.

Gangs of Lemur Island is exec produced by creator Dr Wendy Darke, founder and CEO of True to Nature and former head of the BBC Natural History Unit. It is written by Hazel Marshall, with Andrew Graham-Brown serving as series producer. Alison Barrat, VP of development and production, and James Manfull, executive producer, will oversee the series on behalf of Love Nature, which is a joint venture between Blue Ant Media and Smithsonian Networks.

The show is due for delivery next summer and will air on Love Nature’s linear and streaming platforms internationally as well as SVoD service Smithsonian Earth. Blue Ant International is distributing.
