Love Island heads to Hungary

The UK version of Love Island airs on ITV2

A Hungarian network is preparing a local version of Love Island, the hit relationship format owned by ITV Studios and Motion Content Group.

RTL Klub’s Love Island Hungary will be made by European production house Paprika. The pickup marks the sixth territory in which the format has been commissioned in 2019 so far and takes the total number of versions of the format to 13.

As well as Hungary, Love Island will launch for the first time this year in the US (CBS), Belgium (SBS), the Netherlands (RTL), Poland (Polsat) and New Zealand (Three).

In addition, Finland’s MTV3 has ordered a second season of the local version of the format, produced by ITV Studios Finland. The first season of the Finnish edition aired on Sub (formerly SubTV) last year.

Love Island, which sees singletons partnering up in a tropical location as they attempt to be the last couple standing, will also return for a fifth season in the UK on ITV2, its original home. Second seasons are on the way in Australia (Nine) and Sweden (TV4), while a third is in the works for Germany’s RTL2.
