Love Island Germany to return

Love Island Germany host Jana Ina Zarrella

The German version of reality format Love Island is returning for its fourth season, with production beginning at the end of this month in Spain.

The latest season of Love Island Germany will begin airing on August 31 on RTLZWEI, hosted by Jana Ina Zarrella, and will run until the end of September.

Love Island features a group of singletons who come together to embark on a summer of love, friendships and, ultimately, relationships. Every few days, they must couple up, with those who fail to find a partner risking being dumped from the island.

The German version will take place on the Spanish island of Mallorca and the winning couple will take home €50,000 (US$59,000).

The programme is produced by ITV Studios Germany and is based on the format from ITV Studios and Motion Content Group. It is distributed by ITV Studios.

Earlier this month CBS and ITV Entertainment in the US confirmed the second season of Love Island US would be filmed in Las Vegas, rather than Fiji, with participants “bubbling” in a hotel because of the pandemic. The show is set to return on August 24.

In the UK, where the show originated, commercial broadcaster ITV decided in May that the hit reality series would not return to screens this year because of the virus.
