Loonland's Yvon sails on to CBBC

CBBC, the new kids' channel launched by the BBC yesterday, has picked up Canadian toon Yvon of the Yukon, after a deal with German producer-distributor TV-Loonland.

The 26×30' series, produced by Canada's Studio B and distributed in Europe by TV-Loonland, follows the adventures of a dim-witted C17th explorer who is frozen for 300 years in a block of ice, only to be thawed out by a pissing husky. The show aired in Canada on YTV.

CBBC will air the animation in its Sunday morning magazine show Smile, starting from 17 February. The toon will then be repeated at 17:00 daily from 25 February, with further outings at 08:10 and 13:10 the following days.

The sale follows TV-Loonland's first BBC pick-up – The Cramp Twins last year.
