UK independent production company Little Gem has appointed a new head of production and promoted from within to name a head of development.

Harriet Dormer has joined to lead production, while Rachel Harris has been upped from senior development producer to take charge of development.

Dormer was most recently a production exec at Lime Pictures, where she oversaw titles including E4’s Celebs Go Dating.

She began her TV career making political documentaries for the BBC before moving into producing entertainment shows. The exec has also freelanced as a production manager, working on shows including The Friday Night Project, Jamie Saves Our Bacon, Channel 4’s Alternative Election Night, Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night and Paul O’Grady Live.

In addition, Dormer has held roles at Magnum Media, Remarkable Productions, Zodiak Media and Leftfield Pictures.

Meanwhile, in the newly created role of head of development, Harris will help to generate new business and will oversee the development team and slate.

She has previously worked for producers Twofour, Twenty Twenty, Betty, Outline and Keo Films, as well as pubcaster the BBC.

The commissions she helped secure at the Beeb include The Hoarder Next Door, Great British Garden Revival, Health Freaks and one-off specials such as Save Money, Lose Weight.

The appointments come after the Little Gem’s recent hire of Kate Maddigan as its new head of entertainment.
