Lithuania ready to Dance with Stars

The Ukrainian version of Dancing with the Stars

KIEV MEDIA WEEK: Pubcaster Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) has licensed BBC Studios format Dancing with the Stars for a local remake.

Announced today at the annual Kiev Media Week event in Ukraine, the format deal is the first such agreement the commercial and production arm of the UK pubcaster has struck in Lithuania.

Taking the total number of international remakes of the format to 58, LRT’s 12-part version of Dancing with the Stars will launch later this year.

Dancing with the Stars sees local celebrities partner with professional dancers to learn a variety of ballroom routines in a bid to impress judges, a live studio audience and viewers at home.

More than 300 seasons of Dancing with the Stars have aired around the world, with the most recent deals including Spain and Myanmar. In Central and Eastern Europe, the series will be on air this year in Ukraine (1+1), Poland (Polsat) and the Czech Republic (Czech TV), having recently ended its first season on Croatia’s Nova TV.

In related news, BritBox, the North American subscription streaming service from BBC Studios and ITV, has added new BBC1 show, Brexitcast.

Inspired by the BBC podcast of the same name, the programme features geeky and cheeky insights into the complicated world of Brexit from Westminster and Brussels.

BBC political editor Laura Kuessenberg, Europe editor Katya Adler, Europe correspondent Adam Fleming and political correspondent Chris Mason, who host the podcast, also front the TV version. The programme will launch on BritBox this Thursday.
