Lionsgate, Tribeca team for VoD

US studio Lionsgate and international film label Tribeca Enterprises have joined forces to launch a subscription video-on-demand service in 2015.

The New York-based service, called Tribeca Short List, will contain a selection of titles from the two companies, as well as movies curated by Tribeca and others on a weekly basis.

Tribeca Short List will be led by a general manager and a board of directors comprised of Lionsgate and Tribeca execs, as well as an advisory board.

“The launch of the Tribeca Short List service unites two powerful brands and underscores our commitment to collaborate with blue-chip partners around the world to deliver premium content to online audiences,” said Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer.

“The Tribeca name resonates with movie aficionados everywhere, and our service will encompass a highly curated, diverse and prestigious portfolio of quality films.”

It’s the latest in a string of recent streaming services announcements.

Last week, premium US cablenet HBO revealed it would launch a standalone internet-based on-demand service in 2015, while US network CBS is developing CBS Access – meaning it will become the first US network to launch a stand-alone streaming option for viewers.
