Lionsgate SVoD joins Vodafone in India

Lionsgate Play will offer films including The Hunger Games franchise in India

US studio Lionsgate has teamed up with Indian telco Vodafone Idea to launch its SVoD service in the territory.

Lionsgate, through its Starz premium cable business and appended international streaming operation StarzPlay, will offer Lionsgate Play to Vodafone’s movie and TV subscribers in India.

Lionsgate Play features a range of the studio’s movies, including The Hunger Games, The Twilight Saga and La La Land, plus digital premieres for titles like American Psycho 2, Facing Ali and American Assassin.

“The partnership with Vodafone India creates an exciting opportunity to expand the Lionsgate Play offering as a premium service,” said Lionsgate South Asia MD Rohit Jain.

“Our partnership is the latest affirmation of the enormous role that telcos are playing in shaping the digital age of content.”
