US premium cableco Starz Entertainment has secured a multi-platform deal to carry content from film studio Lionsgate on its television networks and online.
Starz, which operates 17 movie channels in the US, has picked up a catalogue of more than 500 films from Lionsgate, with titles including The Expendables, The Last Exorcism, Rambo and the Saw franchise.
The pact represents Lionsgate’s first long-term library deal with Starz and will see its content air on channels including Starz, Encore and Movieplex, as well as on-demand and online services.
Lionsgate’s television production arm, which is behind AMC’s cult series Mad Men, recently partnered with Starz for Boss, which stars Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) as a Chicago mayor who hides an illness to stay in power.
Starz already has first-run output deals with Disney and Sony.
