Lionsgate entertains Chinese suitors

The Hunger Games and Mad Men studio Lionsgate Entertainment is being courted by at least two Chinese companies.

Dalian Wanda Group chairman Wang Jianlin told Bloomberg that his firm, which already owns the AMC Entertainment US movie theatre chain, had held talks with Lionsgate execs about a possible takeover.

He said Dalian Wanda has also been in talks about investing in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the iconic US movie brand that owns the James Bond franchise and is also behind TV series Fargo.

Meanwhile, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is also reportedly looking at Lionsgate, which is said to have received expressions of interest from a number of other parties.
