Lifetime doc traces online military romances

US cable network Lifetime has greenlit original documentary series Battlefield of Love from New York- and LA-based prodco Matador Content.

The eight-part series follows nine members of the US military on active servcie who are in long-distance relationships with people they have met online and have yet to meet in person.

Battlefield of Love will see their relationships progress from online into the real world once the service personnel return home.

Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin, Pam LaLima, Shura Davison and Gena McCarthy are executive producing for Matador Content.

McCarthy, exec VP and head of lifetime unscripted, said: “Battlefield of Love is another authentic offering in our core relationship genre. This dating phenomenon really happens, and the series blends aspects of Army Wives with Married at First Sight with incredibly high stakes and a legitimate ticking clock.”
