Joanna Klein becomes senior VP of scripted development for Lifetime and will be responsible for developing and overseeing production of scripted series.

She will report to Liz Gateley, Lifetime’s exec VP and head of programming, while based in Los Angeles.

Klein joins from The CW Network, where she has been senior VP of development since 2010, working on shows including Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She joined the network as VP of development in 2006 and before that worked for Lionsgate, Regency Television and Imagine Television.

Gateley said Klein was “talented and well-respected with a long history of developing some of television’s biggest hits” and would “lead our scripted series efforts” and “attract the very best creative talent.”

Earlier this year All3Media America appointed former Lifetime executive Nina Lederman as exec VP of scripted programming to develop and expand the company’s scripted activity in the US.

Lifetime subsequently added Sharon Bordas from distribution and production outfit MarVista Entertainment as its VP of scripted development.
