Lewers gets content role at Science

Discovery has appointed an executive to be in charge of content at Science Channel following the departure of the cable network’s general manager last week.

Scott Lewers

Scott Lewers has been upped to executive VP of multiplatform programming, factual and head of content at Science.

Lewers has served as executive VP for more than two years and has been responsible for the multiplatform programming, live production, digital and research teams across Discovery, Science Channel and Animal Planet.

It emerged last week that Discovery veteran Marc Etkind would be leaving the US factual giant after a four-year stint atop Science Channel.

Lewers will now oversee the creative vision and content for Science Channel, as well as production and development, reporting to Nancy Daniels, chief brand officer for Discovery and factual.

Lewers joined Discovery in 2007 and prior to that was senior director of historical programming at A+E’s factual cablenet History. Before that he was president of production outfit Pinball Productions.
