Legendary seals pact with Milkfed

The television arm of US producer Legendary Entertainment has agreed a two-year deal with comic book writers Kelly Sue DeConnick and Matt Fraction’s prodco Milkfed Criminal Masterminds.

Legendary Television will adapt several of Milkfed’s award-winning comics and produce original projects conceived by the duo for traditional and non-traditional platforms.

DeConnick is the co-creator of Images Comics Bitch Planet and Pretty Deadly books and her rebranded Captain Marvel work is the underlying source material for the forthcoming Marvel Studios film. Fraction is a New York Times bestselling author and co-creator of comic books Sex Criminals and Casanova. He has also written extensively for Marvel Comics.

The deal parallels Legendary’s recent link-up with fellow comic book writer and Under the Dome co-showrunner Brian K Vaughan.

Legendary’s television division is currently preparing a second season of Lost In Space and the first season of a Pacific Rim anime series for Netflix, as well as the first season of fantasy noir drama Carnival Row for Amazon.

“From their brilliantly realised reinventions of established comic book canon to the most unique of original creations, Kelly Sue and Matt are the top of their field,” said Nick Pepper, president of Legendary Television Studios. “It is an honour to partner with the Milkfed Criminal Masterminds to bring their work to a wider global audience.”
