Legendary will now adapt several of Vaughan’s comics and produce exclusive, original projects developed by Vaughan for film and television across traditional and non-traditional platforms.

Vaughan, a former writer on Lost and co-showrunner on CBS series Under the Dome, co-created critically acclaimed graphic novel Saga alongside artist Fiona Staples.

His other comic books include Paper Girls with artist Cliff Chiang, Ex Machina with artist Tony Harris, Barrier with artist Marcos Martin and We Stand on Guard with artist Steve Skroce.

He serves as an executive producer on the TV version of his comic Y: The Last Man, which has been adapted by Michael Green and Aida Croal for FX and Colorforce, and is an executive consultant on Runaways, another adaptation currently in its second season at Hulu, with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage adapting and Marvel producing.

Vaughan is represented by Verve and attorney Julian Zajfen of Ziffren Brittenham. He said he had chosen to work with Legendary as the company was “instrumental in helping to revolutionise the way the world thought of ‘comic book movies.'”

Legendary currently has multiple films in various phases of production including Godvilla vs. Kong and Dune, while Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Detective Pikachu will be released by Warner Bros in May 2019.

Legendary’s television division is currently preparing a second season of Lost In Space and the first season of a Pacific Rim anime series for Netflix, as well as the first season of fantasy noir drama Carnival Row for Amazon.
