Leftfield’s Riot covers Armoza’s Couch

Couch Diaries debuted on Israeli network HOT

Leftfield Entertainment-owned Riot Creative has acquired Israeli docu-reality format Couch Diaries for the US market.

The show was developed by Artza Productions and follows participants at a crossroads in their lives as they are placed on strangers’ couches in far-flung corners of the globe and forced to challenge everything they think they know about themselves.

It premiered on Israeli network HOT in 2013 and a second run featuring celebrities has aired recently on the channel, with Armoza Formats distributing.

Stephanie Angelides, president of Riot Creative, said the show provided “an innovative and creative premise, both helping people examine their lives in ways they would never expect, while also finding common ground with complete strangers. It’s a social experiment of sorts that illuminates unique human interaction, and we think it has tremendous possibility for success in the US.”

The deal was brokered by Ed Simpson, senior VP of business development and international at Leftfield.
