Landmark, Orwo team up on thriller

Chicken Soup for the Soul-owned prodco Landmark Studio and Louisiana-based Orwo Studios have teamed up to produce new supernatural thriller series Safehaven.

The 10×60’ series tells the story of a high school comic artist who must uncover the truth after horrifying visions of her creations come to life, threatening to destroy everything around her.

The series was created by James Seale who will showrun, with Brad Turner (24, Homeland) directing. Seale and Turner will also exec produce alongside Jessica Petelle, Kevin V Duncan, Tom Vitale, Terry Bird, Jake Seal, David Ozer and Tim Rouhana.

Safehaven is slated for production to begin in the third quarter of this year in Louisiana and is currently casting. The series will be distributed internationally by Screen Media.

Orwo Studio’s Seal commented: “There are so many interesting facets to shooting in Louisiana and no better location for a supernatural thriller. Like everyone else, we are ready to get back into production and to collaborate with Landmark and the stellar production team to bring Safehaven to life this fall.

“Excitingly, this production is going to embrace the best of old-world production techniques, including analogue film stocks, and also cutting-edge Virtual Set technologies to create the exciting parallel world in the Safehaven story. We also intend to utilise holograms from Groove Media And Entertainment in both the production and the promotion of Safehaven.”
