Komixx options Blount novel

UK- and LA-based producer Komixx Media Group has optioned worldwide rights to a young-adult thriller novel from author Kelly Anne Blount.

Under is set in North Carolina and tells the story of a boy who becomes infatuated with a girl and kidnaps her, prompting a series of unforeseen consequences.

Komixx discovered the novel via social storytelling community Wattpad. Andrew Cole-Bulgin, joint CEO and head of film and TV at Komixx, said the firm had been exploring new ways to discover popular content to develop.

“We found Under having tracked numerous data trends and Kelly is such a talented writer it soon became apparent that it would make for a valuable and lucrative investment,” said Cole-Bulgin. “It has such a captivating and engaging story that will make for great viewing to audiences across the globe.”

Komixx is already developing The Winter Horses, from New York Times bestselling author Philip Kerr, and teen author Beth Reekles’ The Kissing Booth, which attracted 19 million reads on Wattpad.
