First Class Chefs (9×22′) will see teams of two children aged 9-11 from 12 different schools competing in various challenges designed to educate them about how to eat and prepare healthier food.

In the final challenge, the two teams will transform a school canteen into a real-life restaurant catering for 50 hungry diners, with £10,000 (US$15,000) to fund a healthy living project for their school up for grabs.

Chef Michel Roux Jr (MasterChef, Food & Drink) will be on hand to offer advice, while actors Georgia Lock and Finney Cassidy, stars of Disney’s The Evermoor Chronicles, will co-present the show.

Oliver’s London-based Fresh One Productions will begin filming the show this spring before its airs on Disney Channel in the UK and Ireland this summer.

David Levine, general manager of Disney Channels UK and Ireland, said: “Cookery shows continue to engage British audiences. By offering our viewers tips on how to prepare tasty homemade food, we hope to inspire them to acquire the skills needed to create their own nutritious meals.”
