Kew Media brings The Movies to Cannes

MIPDOC: Kew Media Distribution has stocked its non-fiction shelves ahead of Mipdoc and MipTV in Cannes this week, offering series including a CNN original on American cinema.

Silent Witness: Murder In Amish Country is among the new shows on Kew’s slate

The Movies (12×60’ or 6×120’) explores American cinema through the decades and the cultural, societal and political shifts that framed its evolution.

Combining archive material and interviews with leading actors, directors, producers, film critics and historians including Ron Howard, Ridley Scott, Tom Hanks, Baz Luhrmann, Morgan Freeman and more, The Movies weaves together the events that influenced and dominated cinema. It is produced by The Playtone Company and Herzog & Company.

Also new to Cannes this week is an Essential Media Group production for Australia’s Network Ten, Body Hack 3.0 (8×60’). The series investigates some of the most extraordinary people on the planet.

British actor, writer, comedian and travel enthusiast Griff Rhys Jones and Essential Media Group board the trains of Australia to present a modern look at down under in Griff Off the Rails: Down Under (6×60’ or 6×30’).

A second season of Haunted Hospitals (13×60’) from Canada’s Bristow Global Media is also slated along with three new series from Our House Media Productions: My Paranormal Nightmare (10×60’), Silent Witness: Murder In Amish Country (6×60’), and Mutant Weather (10×60’).

Also debuting at MipTV is Frantic Films’ High Maintenance (8×60’), which examines the consequences of dramatic engineering failures.

A slate of feature docs available includes music doc The Cavern Club: The Beat Goes On and Killing Patient Zero.
