Position Title: Head of Content – Multiple Verticals Grade 5
Reports to: Position CCO – Chief Content Officer Department Programming
Department: Programming

Job Purpose
  • Contribute to the definition of the Vertical’s strategy and identify high level tactical approach to achieving strategic targets
  • Maximize viewership and performance of content for the vertical across platforms (OTT, Telco, DTH, Social when relevant)
  • Contribute to selection of optimal content based on the parameters set by the corporate strategy and input from BI and data analytics
  • Serve as contact point for all matters related to content under the allocated vertical
  • Elaborating financial planning and liaising with finance department on budget elaboration and compliance
  • Ensure OSN standards for quality control are met by vertical scheduling and programming

Key Accountabilities
Strategy and Action plan development
  • Develop business action plan to translate high-level requirements defined by the division’s strategy into specific initiatives leveraging available resources, products and platforms
  • Lead implementation of action plan, ensuring committed milestones are met on time and within budget

Content Management
  • Develop content gap analysis on a regular basis to ensure vertical has access to appropriate content
  • Manage vertical tagging process by drafting proposed tagging for each incoming piece of content by vertical and manage content committee discussion on vertical tagging
  • Ensure the accurate and timely entry of data into the content management system for each incoming title providing up-to-date data on program hours, vertical tagging, genre tagging and other meta-data
  • Develop detailed content journey for allocated content across content types (tent pole vs non tent pole) and platforms (linear vs digital vs social)
  • Lead development of detailed schedule for each allocated channel and platform based on previously developed and approved content journeys
  • Supports Marketing dept for on-air promotion creative briefs and media planning in coordination with presentation and marketing teams when required
  • Support digital UX management team as required in curating content on a daily basis and providing regular feedback to guide improving the OTT platform’s user experience
  • Engage BI & Analytics to support in providing data to guide a variety of activities including content acquisition, programming, scheduling, marketing and promotion
  • Lead the development of new products within the vertical such as pop-up channels and other offerings

Job Requirements:

Qualifications, experience, skills and competencies
Experience required:
  • 10+ years in content programing and / or scheduling; experience appraising content from large Western Studios / Arabic
  • Studios, Independent Studios and executing output deals

Education requirement:
  • Preference for an undergraduate degree in Business or Communications

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Creative mindset, innovator with a deep passion for content
  • Strong understanding of content programing
  • Ability to formalize strategic and action plans, as well as business cases
  • Ability to manage teams and organize work streams
  • Comfortable reviewing data and analytics and viewer trends
  • Comfortable with Office software suite and CMS systems
  • Ability to develop good relationships with other teams
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment
