A little bit about our team
The Marketing team is responsible for advancing UKTV's growth and popularity. The wider Marketing & Communications team includes Marketing, Creative, Media and Planning. The award-winning team devises effective, efficient and innovative marketing strategies for the network and its brands. UKTV's Marketing team has contributed to the network's strong market share and revenue growth, and to the happiness of millions of fans through out the nation.

Purpose of the role
  • Strategic leadership of the UKTV marketing team in conjunction with the CMO, motivating teams and using all available budget and resource to reach targets

In this role you will get to:
  • Lead and develop a team of award winning marketers
  • Shape and grow our portfolio of channel and programme brands
  • Understand and be across the ROI process and understand measurement evaluation

What you will do
  • Lead on training and developing the team to instil traditional marketing discipline alongside modern methods ensuring UKTV is an excellent place for marketers to develop their careers
  • Line manage the Head of Marketing Operations with responsibility for ensuring that leading-edge training, inspiration sessions, processes and systems are provided and used
  • Dual line management of brand Marketing Managers, in conjunction with Channel Directors
  • Oversee the marketing plans for UKTV's brands, designed to meet business goals. Make sure the delivery of the plans is timely and on budget
  • Be responsible for best practise market research and analysis, brand and campaign development, brand planning, and promotional campaign planning, execution and evaluation, across UKTV's broadcast and VOD brands
  • Use long-term planning to create awareness, trial and advocacy of each brand across platforms
  • Make sure the appropriate marketing resources, processes and systems are in place to achieve the business objectives across the network's brands, and provide robust analysis of the effectiveness of work
  • Diligently control the UKTV marketing budget, seeking excellent value, and working with Finance and Media to make sure resources are well used
  • Collaborate with the Director of Media, Creative Director and Director of Communications, Consumer
  •  Social to create a positive working environment and collectively create best-in-class brand and campaign work
  • Work with the Creative Director to make sure UKTV's vibrant media brands are flawlessly executed
  • Maintain and develop agency relationships as required, including media buying, CRM and media partnerships, making sure we motivate agencies to do their best work for UKTV
  • Prepare and share regular, detailed, honest evaluations of work, to facilitate learning in the spirit of constant improvement
  • Offer everyday learning to teams by sharing best practise examples, inviting in speakers, sharing emerging trends and innovation in entertainment, media and other related industries
  • Create a positive and open culture within your teams by listening, coaching and motivating through challenges, and celebrating success
  • Create enduring relationships with colleagues and partners including editorial, the commissioning team, agents and producers, and agencies
  • Be an ambassador for UKTV Originals and our consumer brands, internally and externally
  • Ensure consumer teams present the results and learn from their prior campaigns, including supporting a test and learn iterative approach
  • Responsible for overseeing talent recruitment, development and retention across the marketing teams; identifying relevant coaching and training needs and developing corresponding action plans in conjunction with HR and the CMO, addressing performance issues where necessary
  • Lead by example and champion our organisation's values, to be creative, learn, influence, challenge and collaborate - ensuring UKTV reaches its fullest potential

You will be able to demonstrate:
  • Substantial marketing experience with proven record in successfully creating and growing powerful brands, and appropriate qualification such as CIM or similar
  • A broad range of experience, with a proven adaptability, successfully operating across categories, brands, & business contexts; preferably with experience of different industries & or business cultures
  • A strategic and analytical mind, with a proven track record of combining data and intuition to make brilliant decisions
  • A fan of television and entertainment
  • A natural leader, able to inspire and coach a team, and calm under pressure
  • A proven strategic and operational leader, confident in developing brand building strategies and development plans and translating these into brilliant execution
