Japan’s Ninja swings into Spain

NBC has lined up a seventh season of American Ninja Warrior

Spain’s Atresmedia has become the latest broadcaster to order a local version of Japanese competition format Sasuke, known worldwide as Ninja Warrior.

Atresmedia’s Ninja Warrior, to be produced by Mediapro-owned Globomedia, will challenge 200 contestants with physical and mental tests. UK-based producer-distributor The Story Lab sells the format in Europe.

US network NBC commissioned a seventh season of American Ninja Warrior last year and the format, created by Tokyo Broadcasting System, has also aired in the UK and Sweden.
