ITVSGE to shop Movistar’s Félix

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE), distribution arm of UK production outfit ITV Studios, has acquired international rights to Spanish drama Félix.

The romantic thriller is an original production for pay TV operator Movistar+ directed by Cesc Gay (Truman, In the City) and due to air in 2018.

Filmed on location in Andorra, Madrid and Barcelona, the show centres on the eponymous character’s search for his missing wife.

Julie Meldal-Johnsen, director of global content at ITVSGE, said the acquisition was a clear example of the company’s continued aim to secure an “increasingly international portfolio.”

“We are concerned about producing high-end local content combining innovative narratives and best-in-class production values in order for it to become international,” said Ismael Calleja, Movistar+’s head of business affairs, series and movies original programming.
