ITV4 in the UK has commissioned a physical challenge show inspired by classic Hollywood action movies to be fronted by Rocky, Universal Soldier and The Expendables actor Dolph Lundgren.

Take the Tower (6×60’) is being produced by ITV-owned UK production outfit Twofour and will see Lundgren challenge tough members of the public with a combination of physical tasks and quiz questions.

Contestants must reach the top of the tower, winning cash prizes along the way, to secure the top prize of a holiday for them and their friends.

Paul Mortimer, head of digital channels and acquisitions for ITV, said: “Take the Tower will anchor a night of new original series this coming autumn on ITV4 as we push forward with a commissioning strategy that puts male-skewed entertainment at the heart of primetime on the channel.”

The show was commissioned by Amanda Stavri, ITV commissioning editor for comedy and entertainment, and will be executive produced by Twofour’s CEO Melanie Leach plus Andrew Mackenzie and Rachel Watson.

Twofour distribution arm Twofour Rights will shop the series and format globally.
