ITV2 fills Love Island void with Oz version

The 2018 Australian version of Love Island was filmed in Majorca

UK network ITV2, which was forced to cancel its summer version of Love Island due to the coronavirus pandemic, has picked up the Australian version of the hit format for its summer schedule.

Love Island: Australia is produced by ITV Studios Australia for the Nine Network down under and has so far aired two seasons.

The first of those runs, filmed in Majorca in 2018 before the show moved to Fiji in 2019, will start airing this month on ITV2.

Both Australian seasons have previously been available in the UK via sister channel ITVBe, hosted by Sophie Monk and narrated by Eoghan McDermott.

ITV2 had planned to air two versions of the UK show this year for the first time, a winter and summer run, but the latter was cancelled last month with international travel restrictions and social distancing rules making filming impossible.
