ITV tackles Bobby Moore drama

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a drama that celebrates the life of England football legend Bobby Moore and his wife.

Tina and Bobby, from ITV Studios, tells the story of the late World Cup-winning England captain and his life with his childhood sweetheart, Tina Dean, from their humble beginnings to the dizzying heights of superstardom.

The 3×60’ drama is based on Tina Moore’s memoir Bobby Moore: By the Person Who Knew Him Best.

It will be produced by the ITV Studios drama team in Manchester, which is overseen by creative director Kieran Roberts, who will executive produce. Lauren Klee is the writer.

ITV director of drama Steve November and controller of drama Victoria Fea commissioned the project, which will be produced by Spencer Campbell (Cold Feet, Mad Dogs, Murder in the Outback).
