ITV Studios, Komixx partner in US

The US arms of ITV Studios (ITVS) and Komixx Entertainment have set up an exclusive partnership that will see them develop scripted content together.

Under the deal, all of Komixx’s US television development will be done through ITVS America.

UK-based rights owner and prodco Komixx opened up its first international office in LA in 2012 to produce drama and video game content, primarily aimed at teens.

The company has an exclusive relationship with publisher The Random House Group, which gives it access to a large library of IP for families and young adults.

ITVS America, meanwhile, has been looking to expand its slate of scripted content following its work on formats such as Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.

Its recent commissions on that side of the business include NBC series Aquarius, a 1960s cop drama based around the story of Charles Manson and starring David Duchovny, and Texas Rising, a miniseries for History Channel.

Andrew Cole-Bulgin, Komixx’s head of film and TV said: “For us it was all about having a shared creative vision and ITV Studios America not only gives us that but also a great opportunity to get our scripted drama into the US television networks.”
