ITV still has Dark Heart

Dark Heart

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has recommissioned detective drama Dark Heart from recently formed prodco Silverprint Pictures.

The 6×60’ series, written by Chris Lang (Unforgotten), focuses on a detective haunted by the murder of his parents during his teens.

The show was the first commission for Silverprint Pictures, launched by former ITV Studios director of drama Kate Bartlett. The drama label is the new incarnation of ITV Studios Drama London, the company behind ITV detective series Vera.

Dark Heart was ordered by Polly Hill, ITV head of drama, and follows on from last year’s two-hour show which aired on ITV subscription channel ITV Encore.

The show will again be exec produced by Lang, Bartlett (Vera, Shetland) and Michael Dawson (Vera, Holby City), with Letitia Knight (Vera) attached as producer and Colin Teague (Jekyll & Hyde, Da Vinci’s Demons) as director. ITV Studios Global Entertainment will distribute the series internationally.
