ITV shows Tenacity with new drama

Polly Hill

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has ordered a six-part thriller from Bad Wolf (The Night Of, A Discovery of Witches) in partnership with Entertainment One (eOne).

Tenacity (6×60’) has been commissioned by ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill and is created and written by Peter A Dowling, whose credits include Flightplan and Reasonable Doubt.

Inspired by JS Law’s novel of the same name, the series begins when a dead submariner is discovered aboard a British nuclear submarine and a disgraced military detective is sent to investigate the accident. But when the case turns to murder it puts her in conflict with the crew, her Navy superiors and into the crosshairs of an assassin.

“Peter has written an incredible script with a brilliant and complex heroine leading an investigation that genuinely surprises,” said Hill.

Bad Wolf co-founders Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner (His Dark Materials, A Discovery of Witches) will executive produce alongside Polly Williams on behalf of eOne.

“Producing and developing in the UK is so important to us at eOne and we love that this show combines a British perspective and voice with global reach and ambition,” added Williams, eOne’s head of scripted drama.

Tenacity will commence filming in 2020 with further key production and casting roles confirmed closer to production.
