ITV returns to drama filming with Viewpoint

Noel Clarke in Viewpoint

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has started work on its first drama since the coronavirus pandemic shut down production.

Viewpoint, commissioned by head of drama Polly Hill in January, is being produced by Tiger Aspect Productions in association with Unstoppable Film and Television. Noel Clarke (Bulletproof) stars.

Based on an idea by Emmy-winning Fleabag director Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve, No Offence) and co-created and written by Ed Whitmore (Safe House, Manhunt), the five-parter follows a police surveillance investigation into a tight-knit Manchester community.

Lucy Bedford will executive produce for Tiger Aspect, with Ashley Way (White Lines) directing and Clare Shepherd (The A Word) producing. Viewpoint is represented internationally by Banijay Rights.

Shooting has begun in Manchester, making Viewpoint the first ITV drama to begin filming since all UK production came to a halt because of the pandemic.

Filming will take place at Space Studios in Manchester and numerous locations across the city, many of which will be facilitated by Screen Manchester.
