ITV releases full pack of hounds

UK broadcaster ITV has commissioned a full series of horror gameshow Release the Hounds after trialling the format on Halloween last year.

The series is created and produced by Gogglebox Entertainment, a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), which distributes the format internationally.

Gogglebox will produce six more episodes of the one-hour show, which sees three unsuspecting contestants enter a forest at dusk in a quest to unlock chests full of prize money. However, in order to keep it they then have to out-run a pack of hounds guarding the cash.

The series will go into production this spring and will again be hosted by Reggie Yates.

Release The Hounds was commissioned by Kate Maddigan, ITV’s commissioning editor for entertainment and ordered for ITV2 by Angela Jain, ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions. The executive producers are Gogglebox founders Adam Wood and Mat Steiner.
