ITV preps Prince Charles series

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a series focusing on Charles, Prince of Wales from BBC Studios.

Jo Clinton-Davis

Inside the Duchy (2×60′) will feature exclusive interviews with Prince Charles to mark his 50th working year as the Duke of Cornwall.

The film crew behind the production spent a year at the Duchy of Cornwall, filming with the staff and tenants to capture the day-to-day running of the royal estate, whose properties include farms, housing and industrial estates and HM Prison Dartmoor.

The 700-year old institution has provided the personal income for every Duke of Cornwall since 1337.

According to Jo Clinton-Davis, ITV controller of factual, the series will offer viewers “a unique, close-quarters and intimate view of the duchy and his royal highness’s role and working life within it.”

Inside the Duchy is produced by BBC Studios’ Unscripted Productions. It was commissioned by Clinton-Davis alongside ITV head of factual entertainment Sue Murphy. Charlie Clay is the producer and director of the series, which will be distributed by Fremantle.
