ITV plunges into Deep Water with Kudos

ITV in the UK has commissioned a six-part drama called Deep Water from Endemol Shine Group’s UK prodco Kudos.

Polly Hill

Adapted from Paula Daly’s Windermere novel series, the drama focuses on the lives of three women, living in and around Windermere in Britain’s Lake District. The series is written by Anna Symon (Indian Summers), who will also exec produce.

Karen Wilson, who was appointed chief creative officer at Kudos in February, joins Symon as an exec producer on the project.

The rights for the novel were acquired by Sue Swift, head of books and adaptations at Kudos. Endemol Shine International will handle global distribution of the drama.

ITV head of drama Polly Hill, who commissioned the series, said Symon had woven together Daly’s novels to create a “wonderful modern and layered series.”

Deep Water follows on from the announcement that Kudos is developing a TV adaptation of Ill Will, the forthcoming companion novel to Emily Brontë classic Wuthering Heights.
