ITV looks forward to Tonight

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has recommissioned ITV Studios-owned prodco Shiver to produce long-running current affairs programme Tonight to mark its 20th anniversary next year.

Shiver will produce a 30-episode run of the series in 2019, beginning January 3, out of its MediaCityUK base in Manchester.

Presented by Julie Etchingham, Tonight is one of the best known current affairs show on TV, featuring interviews with numerous political and public figures. Between 1999 and 2007 it was known as Tonight with Trevor McDonald, as it was presented by the renowned newsreader and journalist.

The new run will see series producer Laura Caveney-Morgan stepping up to become the show’s series editor. Mike Blair, head of consumer and current affairs at Shiver, will exec produce.
