ITV heats up BBQ format

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has recruited Man v Food star Adam Richman to host a five-part series that sets out to find Britain’s best barbecuers.

Airing this summer, BBQ Champ will see Richman joined by teams of hopefuls who will pit their culinary skills against each other and try to win his approval.

The show will be a coproduction between London-based Whizz Kid Entertainment and Richman’s production company County of Kings.

Richman was named Best Host of a Reality Format for NBC’s Food Fighters, produced by Electus and Universal Television, at C21’s International Format Awards last month.

BBQ Champ was commissioned by ITV’s director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell and commissioning editor, entertainment, Kate Maddigan.
