ITV goes back into The Cube

The Cube

UK commercial broadcaster ITV is bringing back its gameshow format The Cube for a new season, featuring an increased jackpot of £1m (US$1.26m).

Casting is currently underway for a 10th season of the show, which first aired on ITV from 2009 to 2015. Producers are seeking teams of two who live in the same household or support bubble to comply with Covid-19 filming restrictions.

Host Phillip Schofield will return to preside over the gameshow, which sees contestants attempt seemingly simple tasks within the high-pressure confines of a Perspex box. The £1m jackpot is a significant increase on the show’s former top prize of £250,000.

Produced by Wildcard Television, part of All3Media’s Objective Media Group, the new 5×60′ season will see pairs of contestants take on The Cube together as well as tackling solo challenges.

The show’s return will be accompanied by a 1×60′ celebrity special. It was commissioned for ITV by ITV head of entertainment commissioning Katie Rawcliffe and commissioning editor for entertainment Anna Meadows. The executive producers are Wildcard Television’s Ed de Burgh and Paul Wright, and the series will be distributed by All3Media International.
