ITV doc looks at tackling crime via sport

MIPTV: ITV in the UK has ordered a documentary showing the potential for sport to offer young people an alternative path to stop them being drawn into criminality and gang culture.

Connie Henry

Run For Your Life is produced by Golden Egg Innovation and explores the impact of former athlete Connie Henry’s Track Academy organisation on youngsters’ lives.

Featuring contributions from other former UK sports stars such as Lord Coe, Dame Kelly Holmes and Daley Thompson CBE, it is due to air on April 23.

Henry is a former Commonwealth Games triple jump medallist and founded Track Academy in North West London in 2007, aiming to turn around the lives of young people who, by their own admission, might otherwise have fallen into crime.

The programme is produced by Steve Boulton and Steve Cockett for Golden Egg Innovation and was commissioned by ITV director of sport Niall Sloane.
