ITV Encore’s The Frankenstein Chronicles is set for a second season

ITV’s subscription drama channel ITV Encore has ordered a second season of The Frankenstein Chronicles.

The original series, a re-imagining of the Frankenstein story, hails from UK indie Rainmark Films in association with Far Moor and stars Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Sharpe) as a police inspector who pursues Dr Frankenstein’s infamous creation across 19th century London.

The drama was created by Emmy-nominated director and writer Benjamin Ross (The Young Poisoner’s Handbook) and writer Barry Langford (Torte Bluma).

Production of the new series is set to begin in Northern Ireland in January 2017 and will be executive produced by Tracey Scoffield and produced by David Tanner for Rainmark Films. Bean will also executive produce the new series.

Distributed by Endemol Shine International, the new series was commissioned for ITV by controller of drama Victoria Fea and commissioning editor Sarah Conroy. It has previously been sold to A&E in the US and Canal+ in France.
