Israeli producer wins EMC/C21 scholarship

MIPTV: An Israeli producer has won the joint EMC/C21 scholarship for the 2010 Entertainment Master Class (EMC) training programme, scheduled to start in May in Berlin.

Daniel Ravner, head of content at Tel Aviv-based The Box, won the scholarship, worth €13,500 (US$18,400). Ravner’s credits include Channel 10’s primetime show The Sting, and he was head writer and story editor on alternate reality game The Architect.

The Berlin module of this year’s EMC programme will focus on games and gameshows, with subsequent modules covering reality, documentary and factual entertainment (Banff in June); comedy (Lucerne in September); and entertainment management (South Africa in October).

Among the EMC’s mentors and guest speakers this year are Eyeworks CEO Paul Jackson, FremantleMedia’s Gary Carter, reality pioneer Peter Bazalgette, Deal Or No Deal devisor Dick de Rijk, Fox’s David Lyle, Bafta-winning director Geoff Posner, veteran producer Alan Boyd, All3Media’s creative director David Liddiment and German comedy star Anke Engelke.

EMC and C21 unveiled their joint scholarship in March, having been partners on the entertainment training programme since its inception.
