iQiYi catches Dr Seuss’s Cat, Doki

Chinese SVoD platform iQiYi has picked up two shows from Toronto-based kids’ producer and distributor Portfolio Entertainment.

The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! (60×30’) and Doki (26×30’) both currently air throughout Asia.

The agreement will see 86 half-hours of the two animated preschool series run on iQiYi in Mandarin.

Both series are laced with humour, adventure and science and nature themes. They are dubbed in Mandarin and subtitled in English so viewers can learn English while watching.

“Mainland China has a very robust digital environment and millennial parents gravitate to the internet and SVoDs specifically for high-quality educational content for their kids,” said the platform’s co-founder and CEO, Joy Rosen. “iQiYi is the perfect home for these two iconic series.”

Portfolio Entertainment unveiled its kids’ slate for next month’s Mipcom market last week.
