The international arm of a US broadcaster has pre-bought CGI cartoon Pat the Dog from French distributor Superights.

Turner will air the 78×7′ series on Boomerang across EMEA and Asia Pacific, where it will also play on its Pogo and Cartoon Network channels.

It follows the daily adventures of a small dog and its owner Lola and was commissioned by French pay TV broadcaster Canal+ and Rai in Italy.

Other broadcasters to have acquired the show, which is due to make its debut this spring, include Radio Canada, Discovery in Lat Am, and VRT and RTBF in Belgium.

The series is produced by Superights’ parent company SuperProd and Italian firm Animoka.

It is based on the characters in a mobile game called Paf le Chien (Spacedog), which has 27 million users around the world and is particularly popular in France.

The series is one of the first shows from SuperProd’s new animation studio in Angoulême and follows funding that CNC has made available for the relocation of animation production in France.
