Broadcasters in Europe and Africa have picked up a range of shows from Vienna-based doc producer and distributor Terra Mater Factual Studios.

Terra Mater said it had signed deals for more than 250 hours of programming following last week’s Mipcom market in Cannes.

German broadcaster WDR secured the rights to air blue-chip four-parter Wild Canada and two-part series Wild France. Meanwhile, German n-tv will air the two-parter Killer IQ – Lion vs. Hyena.

Swedish pubcaster SVT acquired a 22-hour package including Wild Canada, Wild Sri Lanka, Nile – The Ultimate River and Brazil.

On the digital front, US VoD service CuriosityStream picked up a 23-hour package of science and history docs, while African pay TV operator Multichoice took 28 hours for its VoD service.

In addition, South African pubcaster SABC bought TMFS’s Doctors without Borders and feature doc Among Wolves, among other shows. Chinese CCTV also acquired Nile – The Ultimate River, Wild Canada, Leap of the Lynx and Hummingbirds.

Terra Mater was formed in 2011 when Walter Koehler left the Universum factual arm of Austrian pubcaster ORF to start his own studio backed by energy drinks brand Red Bull.
