Int’l nets play with Playmobil toon

Broadcasters around the world have picked up CGI series Super 4 from French distributor PGS Entertainment.

The 52×11′ comedy adventure toon features characters from toy maker Playmobil and has been acquired by Canal Panda in Spain, VRT in Flemish-speaking Belgium, MiniMax in Eastern Europe, Thai TV3 in Thailand and NTV7 in Malaysia.

Aimed at five- to nine-year-olds, the toon follows the adventures of four main characters – Alex the Knight, Ruby the Pirate, Agent Gene and Twinkle the Fairy – as they travel through five imaginary worlds inspired by the Playmobil universe.

The series is produced by France’s Method Animation alongside Germany’s Morgen Studios. Paris-based PGS Entertainment, which recently hired Xavi Mas as senior VP of global sales, picked up distribution rights to the series in 2013.

The show, originally commissioned by France Télévisions, was acquired by a number of European broadcasters including RTS in Switzerland, Canal+ in Poland and CiTV in the UK last year.
