Int’l nets open Egypt’s Unexplained Files

Egypt’s Unexplained Files

Broadcasters around the world have struck pre-sale agreements with Kew Media-owned UK distributor TCB Media Rights for its forthcoming show Egypt’s Unexplained Files.

The 10×60′ series is produced by UK indie Rare TV and has been funded by TCB Media Rights, with RMC Découverte in France, Science Channel in the US, the UK’s Channel 5 and Germany’s ProSieben also on board.

China’s Da Neng Culture Media, Australia’s Foxtel, Viasat World for the CEE Nordic and African territories, Italy’s Mediaset, Spain’s Odisea and Czech Republic’s TV Prima have also pre-bought the series.

The series looks at the new technology that is unravelling the secrets of ancient Egypt and offering new insights into the way its people lived.

It is the third show to emerge from TCB’s ‘mini-commissioner’ strategy, which has seen the distributor co-funding content such as Massive Engineering Mistakes and Abandoned Engineering.

Paul Heaney, founder and CEO of TCB Media Rights, said: “These are some of the earliest shows that we tried out with this so called ‘commissioning’ strategy, Like a Shot’s Abandoned Engineering is the original and a sales phenomenon.

“Massive Engineering Mistakes has already been a massive sales success and Egypt’s Unexplained Files has been a hit wherever it has aired. As it’s about Egypt and it’s beautifully put together, it sells.”
