Ingenious alum to head BritBox UK

BBC and ITV joint-venture SVoD service BritBox has hired a former Ingenious Media and Warner Bros exec as MD of its recently launched UK operation.

Will Harrison

Will Harrison has been given the newly created role, arriving from venture capital company Ingenious where he was also MD. Prior to that he was chief commercial officer at Warner Bros.

The appointment comes following the UK debut of BritBox in November. Harrison will report to Reemah Sakaan, who headed the initial North American version of the service but is now steering international expansion as chief brand and creative development officer for BritBox Global.

Sakaan said Harrison brings with him “great experience and a track record of success in direct to consumer and streaming. I look forward to working with him to take BritBox to its next stage of growth in the UK.”

Harrison, who has also had stints at HBO Europe, Disney, A+E Networks and Turner, said he was looking forward to helping BritBox “move from a start up to a well-established part of the British media landscape.”

In related news, BritBox has struck a deal with distributor DRG, acquiring a package of titles including award-winning Mackenzie Crook comedy Detectorists, Synchronicity Films drama The Cry and Danny Boyle comedy-drama Babylon.
