India divided over format

Endemol is producing an Indian version of a gameshow format created by John de Mol’s Talpa Media.

Indian broadcaster ETV Marathi will air Divided, where the cash prizes depend on contestants giving fast, unanimous answers to general knowledge questions.

The show will be presented by Indian cinema and television personality Adesh Bandekar and premieres on ETV on July 30.

Deepak Dhar, CEO of Endemol India, said the acquisition marks a “coming of age” for regional gameshows in the country. “Endemol is constantly looking to beef up its regional content and Divided is a significant step in that direction,” he said.

ITV1 in the UK aired a version of the format, which has also been sold by Talpa Distribution into Hungary, Israel, Macedonia, Malta and Romania.
