Imira tallies pre-Annecy sales

Vroomiz has been picked up by Netflix

ANNECY: Spanish kids and family producer-distributor Imira Entertainment has struck a string of content deals with Netflix, Disney, Turner and Nickelodeon.

Netflix has picked up a number of series from the firm in the run-up to the MIFA Annecy animation festival in France, including three it represents from Korean studio SAMG: Vroomiz, MiniForce and action-adventure show Power Battle Watch-Car.

The US streamer has also acquired Imira-produced Lucky Fred, Lola & Virginia and Sandra, the Fairytale Detective.

Disney, meanwhile, has picked up all four seasons of Tuba’s non-dialogue slapstick comedy Larva for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Turner has acquired Calm Island’s Badanamu and SAMG’s Vroomiz for Italy; and Nickelodeon is expanding its previous multi-territory acquisition of Larv, and adding more seasons for Spain and Portugal plus Portuguese-speaking Africa.

Imira has also sold a 14-title package to free TV channel Tuty Broadcasting in the Czech Republic and Slovakia’s and has closed a 10-title deal with Buongiorno for its KidsInMind App platform.

Imira is at Annecy with new titles including comedy adventure Smighties (39×7’), based on a group of small but mighty heroes who live in a colourful fantastical world, produced by Toonz Media Group and Herotainment; Gummy Bear (52×11’), a series based on the internet sensation and produced by Google, Toonz and Gummibar International; and preschool series YoYo (52×7’), from Showlab.
