I’m a Celebrity heads to Oz

An Australian broadcaster has greenlit a local version of UK entertainment format I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Network Ten has commissioned the popular reality series to be produced by ITV Studios Australia for a 2015 broadcast.

The 13th UK series of I’m A Celebrity… launched on ITV last November to 13.5 million viewers, making it the most watched programme of 2013 of any UK channel and the biggest launch in the show’s history, according to the broadcaster. Versions of the show also air in Germany and the Netherlands.

The format sees celebrities dropped into a remote rainforest and complete challenges to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.

International versions of the shows are filmed in the Australian rainforest but the local version will be shot in the African jungle. No hosts or contestants have yet been announced.

The format is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment but it did not play a part in the Network Ten deal, which was agreed directly with ITV Studios Australian.
