ID readies white supremacy special

Investigation Discovery (ID) in the US is preparing a special about the white-supremacy movement in the country, following the death of a woman protesting a far-right rally in Virginia at the weekend.

The untitled special will be produced with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which tracks hate groups across the US such as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and neo-Nazis, and will explore the recent surge in white supremacist activity.

ID is also preparing to air The Klan on Trial on August 17, which was previously broadcast as part of the Hate in America strand of programming.

The show, from NBC News’ Peacock Productions, is hosted by journalist Tony Harris and explores how the SPLC worked on an array of court cases involving the KKK, including the lynching of a young man in the early 1980s.
